Stress in children and teenage students occurs on a regular basis but it is the body’s reaction to accumulated stress that is a matter of concern, especially now, as we are trying to overcome the after-effects of the pandemic. The motto of NewAge World School ‘Set the child free’ speaks volumes about what the Managing Director, Mrs. Rama Raj, anticipated would happen if stress management is not taken seriously in the school.

Schools can be a source of stress especially if a student has difficulty in making friends or ‘fitting in’, faces fear of academic performance, or is an easy target for bullies. With the teacher-student ratio being 1:10, teachers can easily monitor and observe every student closely. A sudden change in behavioral pattern can be a sign of stress. Teachers and students at NewAge share an extremely close relationship and students do not hesitate to discuss issues they face with their teachers who are their confidantes.

The sign of a healthy body is a stress-free mind. Breathing techniques are taught and practiced along with yoga. This is a powerful tool to equip students with, and a few minutes of flushing out toxins through the breath are proving beneficial. Meditation and regular Bhagwad Gita chanting is a stress-buster. The older students are made aware of doing their actions consciously and mindfully.

The importance of being exposed to sunlight every day, a proper diet and regular exercise in the form of games or yoga cannot be undermined in managing stress on a read more regular basis. The organic manure produced is used in the school campus.
